Marlene Barretto and her advocacy: Helping people live better lives
What started out as her personal journey to health and healing has now evolved into her life purpose and calling. Fifty-eight-year-old Marlene Barretto from Iligan City is now on a mission to help people lead a healthier and more meaningful life through Santé Barley products. Ever since she could remember, Marlene said she had always been complaining of constipation. Passing stool was a difficult undertaking and her bowel habit was highly irregular. She would sit for long periods of time on the toilet as she strained during bowel movement. Over time, she said, she developed hemorrhoid. The mother of four’s condition would worsen after giving birth.

Consulting with different specialists did nothing to improve her condition. “In 1990s, I visited a renowned surgeon in Manila for a non-surgical hemorrhoid treatment. The doctor was a known expert in cryosurgery method but the treatment was ineffective for me. My hemorrhoid would gradually return after my sessions and I was still constipated. There was a time when passing stool with blood had become a normal occurrence that it did not bother me anymore,” she said in Filipino.
Marlene also flew to China to consult a specialist there. She was prescribed herbal medicines which provided her relief for a time. After two to three months, however, her condition would return just like before.
According to her, her true healing began after a long-time friend of her husband, who was suffering from hyperacidity then, had recommended Santé Barley to him. After a week, her husband felt extremely better with the discomfort completely disappearing.

We were given a chance to talk to him and consult my daughter’s condition,” she said.

She was scheduled to fly to New York where she was going to work and study at that time so I wanted her to be cured of her illness first. She was very cooperative. One week before her scheduled flight, her condition greatly improved,” she shared.
